Nothing matches the flavor and the nutritional value of fresh picked, locally grown fruits and vegetables. Here at Jones Family Farm, we pick our vegetables at the very peak of ripeness so you can enjoy the full goodness that happens only when a vegetable ripens on the plant.
Our market opens in April when the first vegetables are ready for harvest, such as our spring onions and tender asparagus. Not too far behind, we'll have beautiful, big red juicy strawberries, both pre-picked, and pick your own.
Throughout the growing season, our baskets and displays overflow with more than 40 varieties of homegrown produce. Purchase by the piece, quart, half-bushel or more. Discounts are offered for volume purchases, especially on our bumper crops.
Specialties
We carry yellow tomatoes in large, cherry or grape sizes for those who prefer less acidic tomatoes. We also carry an extensive selection of fresh picked "hot" peppers, from Jalapeno (a mild hot!) to Habanaro (a super hot!)
Our half-runner beans are a southern heirloom variety found exclusively at Jones Family Farm. Also, count us as your headquarters for "burpless" cucumbers!
We have cultured several orange and yellow varieties of watermelon, as well as "honeylope," a cross between cantaloupes and honeydews.
Jones Family Farm also has Daikon radishes, especially good for oriental dishes, and we grow several varieties of eggplants, including Rosa (Italian), white, traditional purple, and finger eggplants, which are small and thin.
We carry a Harford County apple cider made "the old fashioned way" from a very special recipe that has been used for more than 50 years! We also harvest our own honey from the farm beehives, which is known to help reduce allergies to local plants. We carry several delicious jams, jellies, and condiments for your convenience.
Please remember, we are family owned and operated—our daughters, aunts, or cousins will be the family serving you fresh and tasty produce, and sharing ideas for cooking and preparation. We will not try to sell you sweet corn in February that was grown in Brazil, picked two weeks ago and transported across the globe—but when we have our own sweet corn-beginning in June-growing in the Harford County sunshine until the kernels are bursting with flavor—oh my, you will taste the difference, and what a treat it is! And homegrown Maryland clay soil tomatoes! Ah yes! Ever have a tomato sandwich?
